Bugatti Type 35A

A Bugatti Type 35A Recommissioned with Respect for its Past.

At Gentry Restorations, we believe that restoring a historic car is not always about making it look new. For particularly significant cars, the greater challenge can be knowing what not to change.

This was especially true with Bugatti T35A. An exceptionally early example of the model, the car had retained an unusual degree of originality throughout its long life. Rather than having undergone the comprehensive restorations that became commonplace with many important pre-war competition cars, this Bugatti T35A had survived with much of its original character intact.

The aim was therefore not to undertake a comprehensive restoration, but to carefully recommission the car after many years of inactivity.

The focus was on assessing and servicing what was already there, retaining original components wherever possible and making only those interventions necessary to return the Bugatti to safe, reliable running condition.

For a car as original as this Bugatti T35A, restraint was just as important as restoration. The result is a Bugatti that can once again be enjoyed as a working motor car, while retaining the character and authenticity built up over almost a century.
